Rotorua Contract milking
A fantastic opportunity to Contract milk a 80 ha farm milking 240 cows for an average production of 80,000 Milk solids. Utilising pasture as the primary feed and In-shed feed up to 600 kg per cow per annum.
The successful candidate(s) will be offered a competitive contract rate of $1.80 per milk plus milk quality incentive and a calf rearing incentive and will have proven track record excellent pasture management, achieving production targets, working to a high standard and working collaboratively with owners and their advisors.
The facilities and system include:
· A modern 20 aside cowshed with In-shed feed system
· Effluent system storage is a lined pond with spreading via a travelling irrigator.
· High quality four bedroom home with two heat pumps
· Schooling includes primary 10 to 20 mins away trave; secondary 15 minutes travel.
· Plenty of support from and owners and farm advisor.
· Pasture centric system only utilising supplements in periods of genuine deficit.
· A herd of 240 cross breed cows
· Contour is flat to rolling with some steeper hill.

Values: Honesty, Strong work ethic, loyalty and open communication.
Excellent pasture skills; with a focus on pasture being the primary source of feed with excellent management of residuals, round lengths, feed wedges pasture measurement and allocation. Combined with the ability to manage supplementary feed efficiently.
Great animal husbandry skills, particularly around achieving low SCC, effective feeding to maximise production, target body condition scores to achieve low not-in-calf rates and high six week in-calf rates to maximise days in milk.
Strong regular record keeping through the use of MINDA, dairy diary , weekly farm reports, any other applications required for record keeping.
Repair and maintenance skills and the capability to operate machinery safety to complete normal farm tasks.
Has a strong track record of achieving production targets, managing Milk quality, environmental and Health and safety compliance.
Keeps the farm and facilities tidy and free of weeds.
Has financial proficiency to profitably manage their contract milking enterprise and the farm for the owners.
Understands that success as a contract milker requires working in partnership with others with great communication, a proactive approach, working alongside the farm owners.
